Have you ever wondered about a patient, “Is this a regression?”
When “all of a sudden,” we see a loss of tools, we need to ask ourselves if this is a regression or a pulling-in?
There are times of pulling-in during typical brain development (think about growth spurts or milestones). We must be communicating this appropriately to parents. We do NOT treat symptoms. Do NOT call the pulling-in a regression! Work with the parents and ask the right questions to determine if this is a typical pulling-in or a true regression.
Watch this video to learn how to navigate this challenge and which questions to ask. Once we’ve asked the right questions and determined what you’re dealing with, use the tools provided in this video from Dr. Amy to move forward in either scenario.
