Meet Dr. Amy Spoelstra
I’m Dr. Amy Spoelstra—founder of FOCUS Academy and both the Brain Blossom Clinical and Educational programs. I’m also a mom of two, a brain development nerd, and someone who genuinely loves helping smart providers get out of their own heads and into a clinical rhythm that actually works.
I created FOCUS because I was tired of watching great clinicians, myself included, struggle through complex cases with no real system to think through what was happening, when to intervene, or how to explain it to families.
What started as a few local trainings has now grown into an international academy with its own research leg serving chiropractors, therapists, educators, and brain-based professionals across disciplines.
Since opening FOCUS in 2011, I’ve trained thousands of chiropractors to navigate behavioral, learning, and socialization challenges with more clarity and less overwhelm. I’ve launched certification and mentorship programs, created the Brain Blossom® Program, and helped build a new way to confidently apply the tools we already know—so we can better support the developmental process and serve the families who trust us to help.
But more than anything, FOCUS has become a place where professionals feel confident, supported, and truly seen.

Outside of the work I’m obsessed with, I’m raising two amazing kids (Meela and Eli) with my business partner and husband Dave, drinking too much coffee, and yes—still happily geeking out over neuroscience in my free time.

We do train other professionals like OT’s, PT’s, educators, and optometrists—but they must work alongside a FOCUS Certified chiropractor to fully implement the model.
